How to Configure MFA

This article offers links to videos on how to navigate multifactor authentication configuration and enrollment.

ADR Notable has introduced Multifactor Authentication.

If your firm was already set up to mandate a second factor, your team will be asked to enrol in MFA on their next login.

We've prepared two videos to assist with the process as well as instructions on how to enable and mandate MFA at the firm level.

🔐 Why Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Is Critical for Security

In an age of rising cyber threats, relying on just a password to protect your account is like locking your front door but leaving the window wide open. That’s where Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) steps in—it’s a simple but powerful way to add another layer of defense against unauthorized access.

🚨 What Is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication requires users to provide two or more verification factors to access an account. Typically, this includes:

  • Something you know (e.g., a password)
  • Something you have (e.g., a mobile device or hardware token)
  • Something you are (e.g., a fingerprint or facial recognition)

By requiring more than just a password, MFA makes it exponentially harder for attackers to compromise your account.

💡 Why It Matters

  • Most data breaches involve weak or stolen passwords. MFA significantly reduces the risk by requiring a second proof of identity.
  • It protects against phishing and credential stuffing. Even if your password is leaked, MFA can stop hackers in their tracks.
  • It helps maintain compliance. Many standards, including ISO 27001 and GDPR, encourage or require MFA for sensitive systems.

🛠️ When and Where to Use MFA

Implement MFA especially for:

  • Your ADR Notable account
  • Email accounts
  • Cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace)
  • Remote access tools (e.g., VPN, RDP)
  • Admin-level portals or critical business systems

✅ Getting Started

If you haven’t already, enable MFA on all business and personal accounts that support it. Most platforms allow you to set up MFA using mobile apps like Microsoft Authenticator or receive a one-time code via SMS or email.
